Safety information / minimum required PPE Details

  • DO NOT use this equipment without using appropriate eye protection.
  • Wear a Welding Mask!
  • Ensure that any bystanders who are observing, or who may glimpse the welding activity, also wear appropriate eye protection.
  • Always wear appropriate gloves / gauntlets / hand protection when welding.
  • Wear a welding apron to protect yourself from weld spatter.
  • Consider wearing a cotton boiler suit to protect your lower body from weld spatter.
  • Wear safety boots
  • Do not tuck trouser legs in to boots. Trouser legs should be over / outside boots. This is to prevent weld spatter / hot material being trapped in boots causing burns.
  • Disconnect the power before when not using the welder.
  • Use Welding screens / blinds / curtains where provided (Do we need to provide blinds for windows to stop people accidentally seeing the arc while walking past the hackspace on the park side and looking through the windows?
